Appart'hôtel Odalys Marseille Canebière

The view from my room was good, and the studios were a decent size. But there’s no air conditioning, so nights get unbearably hot. You’re left choosing between opening the windows and getting bitten by mosquitoes or keeping them shut and suffering in the heat. Our fan was faulty, and the replacement was so noisy it could’ve kept the neighborhood awake while barely cooling the room. There were also prostitutes hanging around outside the main gate all day.

We were stuck in the room for five days, with the temperature inside reaching 35 degrees. Avoid this place in summer. The service was terrible, and paying a bit more would get you a much better stay. The room was dirty and more like a cheap student residence than what I expected from Odalys. The website photos show their best single room, probably not the one you’ll get. Our window was 1x1m and faced an adjacent building, with no privacy. Toilets and shower were dirty. Room service costs 7 EUR a day, or you have to clean yourself. We arrived around 15h and had to wait for the room. The receptionist wasn’t helpful and said the problems we were having were normal and known to all residents. When we asked for a phone number to contact customer service, she said there was no direct link to SAV at this hotel. I won’t come back.

It’s a good spot if you just need somewhere to sleep. We paid 88€ for two nights in a double room. It was clean and quiet, with a comfortable bed, fresh towels each day, soap, and shower gel. There’s also a kitchen with a microwave. The old harbor is a 10-minute walk away, and Metro Blue and red lines and tram 2 are close. The entrance is around the corner, so check the pictures. You get what you pay for.

Students especially should avoid this place. You may get an empty, dirty room and have to buy everything yourself, even pillows, then spend a week cleaning. The rooms look nothing like the pictures. The Wi-Fi code only works for one device, and the connection is unreliable or completely down in the evenings. Customer service is awful, it’s dirty, and the price is far too high for what you get. Worst place ever, not even worth one star.
