Auberge de Jeunesse HI Marseille Bois-Luzy

The hostel is a little outside the city, and we liked having some quiet time away from the bustle while seeing a different part of Marseille. The city view is gorgeous, and the surroundings are peaceful. My boyfriend and I camped for three nights and loved it. Staff were extremely kind, the common areas were spacious and well kept, and the breakfast was good for the price. It felt familiar and safe. I'd definitely stay again if I come back to Marseille.

The location works well, with two bus stops within walking distance, and the garden looks amazing at sunset. It was clean and tidy, easy to get to, and had a large bathroom. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. There was a mix-up with my booking, so only two nights were available. They found a solution in a tent and promised a bed, sheet and pillow since I'd originally booked a room, but on the third night I got only the bed. That's the one downside of my stay, and I hope it doesn't happen again. I'd definitely come back :)

It's an AMAZING, almost palatial place with lovely architecture and kind staff, but it's a long way from the city center. I spent 30 Euros on a taxi each way. I'd recommend it if you're okay with the commute.

The rooms are very spacious, and mine had a beautiful city view. Breakfast is basic, but it's nice to have something to eat before starting the day. The building is beautiful, and the staff have been friendly and helpful. It's in a quiet, safe-feeling area on the edge of Marseille, a wee way from the center, though the metro is easy. I felt very safe walking from St Barnabe station. I'd definitely recommend it if you don't mind staying outside the city.
