B&B HOTEL Marseille Les ports

This feels like a basic budget hotel, where the rooms are small and you’re not paying for the location. The neighborhood didn’t seem like the best in Marseille, but aside from that, we were very satisfied. Our rooms and sheets were clean, and check-in with the friendly staff was easy.

Fine for a short stay. Breakfast was only available if you told them the day before, and that should be stated on the website.

The automatic kiosk made it easy to check in without a reservation. Once in my room, I noticed repairs were underway on the window. I told the receptionist the next day, and when I returned that evening, the staff had moved my things into a larger room with a nice view of the seaport because the window couldn’t be fixed quickly. The TV was very large and served as background while I spent time in the room.

A loud sound of water flowing from the air conditioning kept us awake, and since reception closed after 21h, changing rooms wasn’t an option. The parking situation was a mess. They say you can park here, but you can’t. There are two nearby garages where you need the Zenpark app to reserve a spot, but the app couldn’t find either garage. Street parking wasn’t an option either, and there are lots of break-ins around there, whether parked on the street or in a garage. This is in the ghetto of Marseille. We ended up booking another hotel in a much nicer neighborhood in the south of Marseille.
