Grand Hotel Beauvau Marseille Vieux-Port - MGallery Collection

The restaurant and bar have an incredible view over the port. We skipped breakfast because we spent most of the weekend exploring Marseille on foot. We were here for my partner's birthday on the weekend of November 15. After a really poor welcome at another nearby hotel calling itself four-star, we cancelled there and walked into MGallery feeling discouraged. My partner's brother had stayed here recently and loved it, so we gave it a try. The two people at reception quickly picked up that the weekend had started badly, welcomed us warmly, and upgraded us to a beautiful room overlooking the port, with a balcony and panoramic view. Such a kind gesture. The whole stay was exceptional. Everyone on staff was friendly, cheerful, and genuinely professional. If you're looking to stay near the Port of Marseille, this is the place.

Breakfast was really tasty, with attentive service and a big menu that changed a little each day. The room was thoughtfully laid out, with lots of tucked-away storage, a handy mini-bar with complimentary water, and a shower with a proper closing door instead of the half doors many hotels have. There were plenty of USB, USB-C, and standard 220V outlets by the bed and table. The hotel sits on the Vieux-Port beside a metro line, so getting around the city is easy. Reception were very welcoming and happy to answer questions. I'd recommend staying here and hope I can return someday.

Being right in the middle of Marseille with the harbour on your doorstep is the main appeal of Grand Hôtel Beauvau. It has character, a boutique feel, and good service. If that's what you're after, a harbour-view room is worth considering for the full effect and likely best value. The rooms may show their historic age, so set your expectations accordingly. Anyone looking for ultra-luxury finishes, very large modern rooms, or high-end corporate amenities may want to check the room category carefully or compare it with a newer luxury property. A few practical things: the Vieux-Port is close for waterfront breakfasts, evening walks, boat rides, and the Le Panier district. The central spot makes it easy to head out as soon as you arrive, though a room facing the busy quay may not suit light sleepers. Parking could be limited or costly, so check ahead if you're driving; otherwise there are metro, tram, and boat options. Breakfast and the dining room view are often praised, so that could be a nice part of the stay. If travelling during a period of renovation work, such as early 2025, ask whether the restaurant, bar, or any floors are affected.

We got an amazing deal through Secret Escapes and loved our stay at the Grand Hotel Beauvau in Marseille. Our newly renovated room was bright and airy, with lovely finishes and everything we needed. The location is perfect, right on the harbour. Breakfast was lovely, and we enjoyed the port view each morning. Reception staff were helpful, too. We'd highly recommend it.
