We’ve stayed here twice, and both visits made for a great base to see Marseille and the surrounding area. The suites are roomy, stylish, and comfortable, with kitchens that work well. Highly recommend!

Apartment no. 3 was roomy and comfortable for the two of us. There’s no air conditioning, but the thick walls kept it cool. Our host was helpful and shared good restaurant ideas. The location made it easy to explore the Port and Le Panier on foot, and the metro is an easy walk away for St Charles. If you’re feeling fit, the station is also about a 25-minute walk. We took a day trip by train to Nime, which was really beautiful; Avignon and Aix en Provence are options too. Those towns show how charming the local area can be, and, sadly, how poor many parts of Marseille are.

The location in Le Pannier and the Old Port district is great, in a residential area with a primary school next door. Local shops and cafes are close by. The suite has good self-catering facilities and is well equipped, and the host on site was helpful. Access involves a steep street and steps.

The property itself is beautiful, with comfortable beds, a big shower, and a small kitchen if you want to cook. It’s in Le Panier, handy for Vieux Port, the metro, and other parts of the city. There are steps to climb and no elevator. We enjoyed our stay at Le Couvent and would come back.
