Maisons du Monde Hôtel & Suites - Marseille Vieux Port

Lei or Leah was wonderful and made our stay especially memorable. The service was amazing, and the hotel rooms and bathrooms were incredible. She was always attentive and friendly. They even contacted me right away when we left an iPad behind. Highly recommend this hotel. We'll be back soon!

We arrived very late, so at first the location felt a little out of the way. Then we opened the door to our suite and were blown away by how lovely and spacious it was. By morning we were right in the heart of Marseilles, near the shops and waterfront. Spectacular stay. I'd definitely recommend it and hope to return.

I stayed in the apartment section, Room 7, a few blocks from the main suites. Walking the cobblestone streets with my suitcase felt like part of the Marseille experience, and the staff made it special by welcoming me with rosé and escorting me to the apartment. My one-bedroom was spacious, with robes, slippers, a washer but no dryer, and a full kitchen. It felt like having my own Marseille apartment, stylish and comfortable, and a great base for exploring the Vieux Port. There's no room service, so I suggest picking up basics like oil, coffee, and breakfast food at the nearby MRC grocery. Shops and food places may be closed on Sundays, so plan ahead. There's a Starbucks around the corner, and Uber Eats delivers, though I didn't get to try it before I left. I'll share a review of the grocery next.

The only real plus was the location. The decor looked cheap, and the photos were heavily touched up. My bedroom was tiny, and at six foot two my feet hung off the bed. I slept terribly for all three nights. The AC didn't work, and with it at 20 degrees outside, the hotel had the heating blasting. I couldn't sleep and got bitten all over by mosquitoes in November because we had to keep the window open. The bathroom was so small I could barely fit, and its extractor fan didn't work, leaving the room incredibly humid after a shower. The carpets were dirty, and the coffee machine was broken. I don't recommend it.
