Hôtel Renaissance Martigues

The location is good, but there's no parking beside the hotel. Also, breakfast isn't available there.

When I got there, the hotel cancelled my booking and left me searching for another place to stay at midnight.

The worst hotel I've ever seen.

We were so disappointed. The neighborhood was noisy, with a bar playing music until 2 a.m. When we arrived, the reception looked more like storage space for the Thai restaurant attached to the hotel. The smell in the common areas hit us as soon as we went upstairs: cigarettes, drugs, and cooking from the restaurant, despite the non-smoking rule. The room was in terrible shape, almost like a squat, with torn wallpaper, a broken floor, and mold on the walls. At 10 p.m. we wanted a refund so we could find another hotel, but could only reach the hotel manager by phone. She said dealing with demanding people like us was complicated and told us we'd be reimbursed in three days. We suspected a scam and ended up staying for the two nights we'd booked. There was no breakfast, despite it being advertised. In the bathroom, we had to put up with hair left by previous guests, and there wasn't even a toilet seat. The bedding was disgusting, so we flipped the filthy mattress over. With no mattress protector, that wasn't surprising. The price was attractive and the receptionist was friendly, but otherwise I'd avoid this place. The photos are clearly misleading. This hotel deserves to be shut down by the prefecture and made to renovate.
