ibis Martigues

The friendly staff are the only reason I'm giving this two stars. During my seven-day stay, the room was almost as hot as outside, around 34*C. The climate control either didn't work or was set not to cool, and when I mentioned it, staff said they knew nothing about it. Even on the coldest setting, the tap and shower water stayed warm. The floors looked only mildly dirty, but they left my socks dirty. There was no mini fridge, though I understand that's normal in France, and the internet was slow or unusable at least twice. My key card also failed to open my room or the parking area on three occasions. Breakfast was mediocre: the omelets were oversalted on four days and burnt on the other three, and the coffee machine sprayed everywhere except into the cup. A really bad experience. I hope they improve.

Just 100 yards from the port, this is a very nice property with a great quality-to-price ratio. The rooms are a little dated, but the staff are friendly and professional, and parking is free and gated. Breakfast was a full American spread, with eggs, sausage, pancakes, seasonal fruit, and French pastries.

The hotel is near the town center, and the car park just behind it is well situated. The rooms are great and the bathrooms well equipped. Breakfast offers a good selection, though it can feel cramped when it's busy. It lives up to its 3-star rating.

It’s about a 5-minute walk from the historic center, and the hotel has its own parking. The rooms were very clean and soundproof. There’s no luxury, but the essentials are covered: a good mattress, a comfortable shower, and a well-placed TV. I was quite surprised.
