Domaine de Ballerand

What a waste. I remember spending such wonderful times there as a child with my parents, who were friends with the owners. Now it seems to be a spot for businessmen and somewhere to put their money. The property is watched to keep curious people and intruders away. 🤔

It looks as though the estate is being kept up, but there’s no tourist activity or anything else going on. The place feels empty of meaning, even though it has so much potential. I wonder if it’s ever actually been open. The castle and main building don’t even have windows, and only the house seems to be lived in. There’s plenty of speculation about what the estate is for, but it seems like a purely financial venture. What a waste.

The grounds are unexpectedly clean. The imposing building is only a replica, though, and gives the impression that nobody lives there.

When Mr. Guy De Lacombe and his brother-in-law Bernard De Romefort owned the place, it was peaceful and worked as a proper campsite. I spent several lovely family holidays there over the years. The huge renovation project has wiped away all the nostalgia. A disaster!
