Comfort Hotel Maubeuge

We had to stay the first night because it was so late when we arrived, and there was no other option. The breakfast was good, with a fair selection, but the rest of the stay was awful. The pillowcases were dirty, and the towels smelled of harsh soda. We had booked three rooms for two nights for a local sports tournament. Our three parties arrived late after travelling, but the access details we'd been given worked fine. One room smelled strongly of cigarettes, and opening the window didn't clear it. Perfume didn't cover it either. The other two rooms smelled terribly of sewage. Those smells seemed to get into everything, even our clothes and hair. We booked a different hotel for the second night, and it was very clean, with really friendly people.

Breakfast was good and had plenty of variety, but it starts late on weekdays. Since lots of business people use the hotel, a 6:30 am start would make more sense. The rooms are a bit small, and the restaurant is very expensive. By French hotel standards this place isn't bad, though those standards are horrible.

The rooms feel cozy and are very clean, even though the hotel itself is quite vintage. They could be roomier, especially for families, but they're okay. Breakfast is worth the 15€, with a nice selection and setup. The staff are great too.

The employees were really nice, and everything was perfect. I stayed two nights, and had both breakfast and lunch at the hotel. I can recommend both.
