La Bastide Des Cypres

Thierry and his team have thought of so many useful details: stair gates are available for families with small children, there's a washing machine, and the garden has water toys, a swing set, and a sandpit with toys and a parasol. The apartment has air conditioning for summer and very comfortable beds. I can't think of anything it was missing. The town is a short walk away, or quicker by bike. The bastide lends bikes in several sizes, including children's bikes and child seats. We loved staying at la Bastide and will certainly return. The spacious apartments are fully equipped, with the style and comfort of a hotel and the personal feel of a b&b. The owners know the area well and are happy to suggest highlights. After sightseeing, hiking, or cycling, we could relax in the lovely garden by the clean saltwater pool, which was at 32°C. The kitchen has everything, but we barely used it because of all the excellent restaurant suggestions, apart from grilling local produce on the outdoor planchas. The rest of the property is just as well considered.

With our two boys, we felt like family guests at Thierry’s place. His hospitality was so special that leaving felt like saying goodbye to relatives. Everything was very clean, the surroundings were beautiful and peaceful, and the pool was amazing. We loved our stay and hope to come back to Thierry ‘s Bastide de Cypres.

We were there in the third week of June during THE Heatwave, when temperatures reached 44*C. The pool and air conditioning were a relief! Maussane-les-Alpilles is a traditional, unspoiled village, just a five-minute walk from Le B des C. Along the long main street there are local shops for bread, wine, cheese, fruit, vegetables, and newspapers, as well as cafes, bars, and plenty of places to eat at different prices and to suit different tastes. Thierry is a charming, welcoming, relaxed, attentive host. As a designer of top-end kitchens and interiors, he has made Le Bastide des Cypres into a beautiful haven. We stayed in The Loft, finished to a very high speck, with careful attention to detail and quality. It had a kitchen, walk-in shower room, storage, fitted wardrobes, TVs, lovely bed linen, and a superb mattress. Everything was spotless and immaculately maintained. The high standard carries through the property, from the garden with plenty of fresh herbs to the stunning chemical-free pool, outdoor shower, poolside toilets, and large patio with lots of loungers and chairs, including a shaded hanging cane-work chair. There's also a well-equipped outdoor BBQ ‘kitchen’ and eating area with lovely lighting. Thierry has thought of so much to make guests comfortable. Without hesitation, I give this 5*.

This was our third visit, which says a lot. It's a comfortable end house, close enough to walk into town for a meal or to buy food.
