Etienne and Veronique made us feel so welcome, even before we arrived. The Château, its bedrooms and adjoining buildings are full of charm, and the setting is magnificent. Staying in their beautiful home feels like a gift they’ve shared with the public. We had a delightful end to our honeymoon and hope to return soon.

We felt so looked after by Etienne and his wife, and dinner was lovely. We started with an aperitif on the patio, then Etienne served us a coursed meal. This last-minute booking turned out to be the highlight of our final day in France. We’d been having lunch in Dijon when we found the château online and decided to make the drive. The approach through the Campagne was gorgeous, with winding roads, sunflowers, Les vaches and wide open views, then the château appeared in the little village of Mauvilly on the hill, northwest of Dijon. Etienne met us at the car and helped with our luggage before showing us around. Each room seemed grander than the last, with old photos, painted walls, blue flowered vintage wallpaper, a pool table and a parlor. From the veranda, we looked over the stone wall toward the moat and pastureland. There are apple and fruit orchards on the grounds, with plums, figs, peaches and apples. Etienne also showed us the old chapel and the former command post occupied by the Germans, with long stone corridors and lookout points for protection. It was later used as a hospital. There’s so much history in the place. Truly an amazing experience in the Bourgogne countryside.

The chateau has lots of character, and the bedrooms are cosy and comfortable. It’s a peaceful, quiet spot with a relaxing feel, and the friendly hosts make you feel welcome.

Etienne and Veronique are fantastic hosts, and this is a beautiful place to stay. Everything felt just right, from the bed and bathroom to the food.

Lovely, lovely stay. The rooms, grounds, food and people were all beautiful. We had the best time and will definitely come back.
