Check-in was simple since I'd already done it online, but reception was meant to open at 1600 and nobody was there. Several of us waited around for a little while. Our room was right by the elevator, though we didn't hear it. The double room was very cramped, while the balcony was bigger. The bathroom worked well, and everything was very clean. The bed was comfortable too. It was a fairly typical Ibis room.

The location was a plus, right in front of the sea, though it's about a 20-minute walk to the town centre. The photos promoting the hotel were highly misleading: the supposed balcony overlooking the port looked nothing like the online images. As Accor guests, we felt scammed for the first time. We've stayed in hostels with much better quality, cleanliness, and service. Budget shouldn't mean unsafe, misleading, or neglected. This place is a tourist trap. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere. Parking was another problem. The hotel says it offers parking, but there are very few spaces and they're extremely limited. We tried calling repeatedly throughout the day before arrival, at least a dozen times between morning and evening, to let them know we'd check in late, but never got through. When we arrived at night, no staff were on site. A torn piece of paper taped to the door told us to park on the street, where you can only park for three hours at a time. A self-check-in machine gave us a passcode for the property and room, but nobody asked for or checked ID at any point. That raised serious questions about security and who else might be staying there. We'd never stayed at a hotel in Europe without having our IDs checked, and it felt extremely unsafe. With no staff overnight, I worried about what would happen in a fire, if someone got stuck in the elevator, or if the keypad stopped working. The lack of basic safety and support was shocking. The rooms were small, worn, and poorly maintained, with visible mold and stains in the bathroom. Even for a budget hotel, this went far beyond basic. It was simply run down.

I booked this place for three weeks because I couldn't get into my apartment, and after just one night I'm planning to check out tomorrow and demand a refund. The room isn't awful for four days, but it's TINY. My family and I have stayed at other ibis hotels, including ibis budgets, and this was by far the worst. They stretch the word budget here. Unless money is really tight, don't waste yours. You don't even get what you pay for. We arrived at 9:15 at night and, as expected, there was no staff for check-in. That wasn't a problem at first, but the after-hours machine crashed while we were trying to pay for the night. We ended up standing outside in the middle of the night because the computer had failed. Once inside, we noticed a strange fish smell in the hallways.

The views are nice and the location is good, but a budget hotel still needs staff with a better service attitude, better cleaning, and more care for the facilities. Breakfast was below average, and the garage was terrible, extremely tight. Yes, expectations should be moderate here. Photo of “orange juice”

Miky’s tips for places to visit around Menton made the holiday even better than we’d expected. We’ll definitely come back. The staff were lovely and always ready to help, and our room was fantastic for the price, cleaned to a high standard every day. Breakfast had an exceptional range for a budget hotel.
