We stayed for about a week in early July and found it great value. The apartment had a medium-sized double bed, an extendable sofa, a large living room, and a big balcony facing the inner courtyard. The floors hadn’t been cleaned properly, and the wardrobe by the entrance that held the vacuum cleaner looked like it had never been cleaned. Apart from that, it was okay. The location was excellent, close to the centre, beach and train station. From the station, you can travel quickly and cheaply along the coast, and dogs are allowed. You can reserve an underground parking space. It’s a bit tight, but your car is protected from the crazy traffic, where most local cars seem to have dents and scratches, while you explore Menton on foot and the rest of the Riviera by train. Monaco is only about 20 minutes away by train, for 5.3 Euro per adult. Nice is around 40 minutes away.

Résidence Châteauneuf only operates during the day, as we found out when we arrived at 10pm expecting to check in and there was nobody there. We’d booked through booking.com and requested late check-in through its chat portal. Résidence Châteauneuf replied that the request was APPROVED. We also called their office the previous day, got no answer, and left a voicemail. These are serviced apartments, and there was no one available to let us in that night. Booking.com refunded us and offered alternative accommodation, but a same-night booking was, as you can imagine, very expensive. We were also very disappointed with how booking.com handled it, and are currently seeking compensation.

It felt safe and comfortable, with good security. The location is beautiful, and there’s a bakery and restaurants close by.

The location was excellent, but the rooms hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly.
