We had a lovely week. The food was good, and the kitchen and bar staff were friendly and efficient. The Westminster is in a great spot, too. I’m only holding back the fifth star because the receptionists weren’t welcoming.

The view from the room and the outside of the hotel are lovely, but there are better places in menton for this price. It’s an old hotel with all the facilities, though the elevator is probably the slowest in menton. The AC is old too, and you can’t even set the temperature. Breakfast was crowded, with limited and poor options.

I didn’t stay here, but stopping in for a drink or two was a real treat. The bar feels like it belongs to another era. It looks so grand that I was surprised it’s only rated three stars. I’ll come back.

We were treated so well during our three nights, thanks to the staff’s attention to detail. Christelle, the daytime manager, deserves a special mention. She’s a true professional in hospitality. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in Menton France! We took the recommendation to try La Trattoria, and liked the food and service so much that we ate there for the next two nights. That meant we missed the chance to try other restaurants nearby. One tip for arrival: park on the water side of the hotel when you check in. There’s only one tiny parking spot out front, on the street side.

We ducked in for coffee to get away from the busy street and found ourselves in a lovely 1950s-style bar, with wicker chairs, an ocean view and a garden. The staff really understand service. On the waitress’s suggestion, we got tart Tatin and ice cream with our coffee and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. It cost Euro 14. Recommended!
