Villa Baïna

With floor-to-ceiling windows bringing in loads of light, the indoor space is just as striking as the outdoors. There’s an enormous porch facing the mountains to the north, plus an infinity pool looking south over the ocean, so it’s hard to decide where to settle in first. Sabrina and Luis appreciate the finer things, but they’re also travelers who understand how much connection and comfort matter, and that comes through in the space. My only regret is not having more time there. It’s a mesmerizing place.

We came for two weeks and had a great time relaxing, though the weather gave us all four seasons. After three sunny days, torrential rain came over the mountains, followed by snow. Around four inches fell in under three hours, apparently the first snow in the region for over 30 years. It melted after three days, then another three inches arrived in less than two hours within 48 hours. The rain came back until the day before we returned to the UK, when the sun finally came out again. The winter scenery over the mountains behind Villa Baina was spectacular, with the Mediterranean and local harbour out front. Despite the weather, my wife and I would definitely return, hopefully when it’s better. Villa Biana is roomy and should suit anyone's needs, with two sun terraces, a swimming pool, and another dining area. The proprietors were so friendly that after a couple of days I felt I’d known them for years, and nothing was too much trouble. Would we recommend Villa Biana? Absolutely, 100%. We had a romantic weekend at Villa Baïna and will definitely be back. The beds were comfortable, the amenities modern, and the villa matched its pictures. The views and location were stunning, and we were lucky to get unusually mild weather, so we could make the most of the terrace and barbecue. It’s on a hill, about 15-20 minutes from Menton city center and 30-35 minutes from Monaco. The Italian border is only a few minutes from Menton's city center. We visited San Remo, a charming little coastal town, and stopped at the famous covered market for Italian artisanal products. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, helpful, and accommodating.
