Le Petit Moulin du Rouvre

I love this place and would definitely come back next time. I’d recommend it to friends, too.

The place looks beautiful, but upkeep is very poor. Things are worn and old, and the owner seems not to care. The prices are exorbitant, with charges that feel completely disproportionate. The reception room’s bay windows were very dirty, and the doorsteps were covered in grime. The wooden deck was damaged, with several holes, and the electrical wiring looked questionable. The door to the children’s area wouldn’t close properly, so babysitters had to leave it ajar overnight, even though use of that area costs extra. The “massage/spa” area was particularly dirty and dusty, with cobwebs, as if it hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. The owner seems obsessed with adding charges. He had verbally quoted a flat rate for our guests’ overnight stays if we booked the cabins exclusively. But when the bill came, every cabin had been charged at the full rate, with no flat rate that should have been more advantageous. Honestly, given the condition of the place and the problems we ran into, we felt strangely like we’d been taken for a ride. It was opportunistic and poor business practice, especially after such an important event for us.

One evening we went to the restaurant, where the quality ingredients and culinary skill made for a real treat. On another, we attended an event organized by our company’s Works Council, and it was fantastic. We spent two wonderful summer evenings at this magnificent estate. Thanks to the owner for making them possible, and for being so kind and attentive.

The restaurant alone is worth the trip: generous, delicious dishes from a kitchen team that’s smiling and clearly passionate. We also loved the friendly, welcoming staff, who were always attentive. Le Petit Moulin du Rouvre has a magnificent, charming setting that feels like a real escape. And having a pool with a jacuzzi in such an unusual spot was a lovely extra. I’d recommend it without hesitation! ✨
