Alba Hotel Lac d'Orient

The location worked really well for our overnight stop on the way back from Italy to Le Shuttle. We were two families, with children aged 10 and up, in two spacious two-bedroom duplex rooms with plenty of storage. The rooms are simple but very clean, and there's a great new indoor pool and a nice dining room. Breakfast was a good continental spread, and dinner was lovely, good value, and suited everyone in our group. The staff were incredibly helpful and took care of all our needs. Happy to give these folks five stars, while keeping in mind this isn't a five-star hotel.

The staff at reception and in the restaurant were first class, and breakfast was excellent. We stopped here overnight while travelling from Provence to the Channel Tunnel, and the very reasonable price left us unsure what to expect. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise: our room was spacious and very clean, with an excellent bathroom and wet room. Dinner was okay, though it's a fixed-price menu with no choice. Drinks were unbelievably good value. I'd highly recommend the hotel.

Even on a one-night stay, there was time to walk to the lake in just a few minutes and enjoy the birds and the quiet village. The hotel also has a sauna, jacuzzi, and indoor pool, which were lovely options on a chilly evening. My room was comfortable and clean. A special thank you to the lovely receptionist, who was welcoming, kind, and full of useful information. I had a great time at this beautiful place surrounded by nature, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys quiet surroundings and birdwatching.

The lake is well worth the five-minute walk through the rear gate. This was a lovely stopover near Troyes, just 20 minutes off the A26. The rooms were very clean and tidy, and it was nice having a swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers.
