The staff were very friendly, the room was nice, and it’s an easy walk to the city centre. I’d recommend the hotel, just get breakfast somewhere else because it wasn’t good.

I came back a year later and the hotel was still just as I’d described it. The restaurant was closed on Sunday, but I had a plate of cheese and charcuterie that really hit the spot. The wine list is good and affordable. On my earlier stay, everything from reception to parking and breakfast was in order, and the bar and restaurant were fine without being too pricey. It’s a quiet corner of Metz, a short way from the centre, and I’d consider staying again when travelling through.

The reception staff were very helpful, as were the restaurant staff when we ate there in the evening. The room was what I’d expect from a Mercure, with a reasonably sized bathroom. The pillows were too thin, though, and it was too hot at night with the heavier duvets still on despite the spring weather. Breakfast rolls were a letdown. Surely Metz can offer a good baguette?
