Residhome Metz Lorraine

It felt like staying in an apartment, with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a separate toilet. The wardrobes in the bedrooms were ridiculous, though, and I really hated the breakfast. Maybe that's because French cuisine isn't to my taste, but either way, that's how I felt. Sorry for mentioning the negatives. The beds, lamps, TV and power sockets were fine. The hotel is near a railway line, and sometimes we could see trains going past.

The reception staff were super friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and well equipped for what I paid. I stayed for two nights, and it made a great base for exploring. The train station is literally a three-minute walk away. There was also a small kitchen where I could prepare breakfast with things from the local supermarket, about a 10-minute walk away. I saw some less positive reviews, but you get what you pay for. It's not sold as a luxury hotel, so that isn't what to expect. And the booking instructions clearly said to email if arriving late so they could arrange special access. If you get stuck outside at check-in after missing that, that's on you.

The hotel is very close to the train station, with good transportation links so you can get around easily. Hygiene and cleanliness were great. The only issue was frequent hot water problems.

The location is on the noisy side, and there was still some sewage smell in the air. There's a small parking area in front of the building, but most spots are reserved for drivers with disabilities.
