Les Hortensias

We spent a few days here as a family while exploring the area. The room was spotless, the bedding was good quality, and the towels were replaced every day. Breakfast was really generous, with bread, croissants, jam, yogurt, and homemade cakes and brioche. The hosts were friendly, welcoming, and full of useful tips for things to see nearby. It’s also well placed between the sea and the mountains.

We’d driven 800 kilometers since our last holiday in Italy, where we’d had a wonderful stay in a clean, comfortable house with kind owners who cared about their guests. That left us with such a good impression of Italy and Italians. This time, we were heading to Spain because the war in Ukraine had forced us to leave home. It was terribly hot, our car’s air conditioning didn’t work, and by the time we reached this house around 10 PM, my daughter was crying from exhaustion. We’d traveled as two families, with our belongings packed inside the car and in suitcases on the roof. After such a hard trip, we asked the owner if we could leave the car in the yard just for one night. We couldn’t face unloading two heavy cases from the roof and figuring out how to secure them again in the morning. They held the last of my and my daughter’s things, including medicines and valuables, so we couldn’t leave them outside. The owner flatly refused. They also objected to us arriving with our small Chihuahua. She weighs 1.70. I’m not a tourist here. Our house and everything in it burned on the night of August 9th. We were lucky to have left before then. I couldn’t leave my animal behind in Ukraine. The owners treated the dog as a huge problem and said we couldn’t enter the house with her. A woman shouted in French from the window as if someone were killing her. I might understand if it were a big dog, but this was a tiny one. People in Ukraine would have tried to accommodate us, and we’d have paid extra for the dog. These owners wouldn’t let us in, and none of the 130 euros we paid when booking was returned. We had to find another hotel and go there instead. Thankfully, we found somewhere comfortable to rest until morning and then continue our trip, but our costs doubled. I don’t recommend this place at all. The owners were aggressive, uncaring, and greedy, with no kindness or empathy for what others are going through. If you need somewhere to stay, look elsewhere. Zero stars. Horrible people and a terrible place.

We stayed four nights and were very happy here. The bed and breakfast was spotless, and the owners were kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with homemade cake and jam. There’s plenty to see and do in the beautiful area around it. We’d gladly recommend staying here.

We broke our journey here on the way to Spain, and the place was quiet and clean, with comfortable beds. The two retired owners made us feel incredibly welcome. For €65, breakfast is included, and everything is homemade. We highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
