There's a lot of potential here, but we didn't come to La Renardière for the breakfast. The welcome was simple, courteous, and quick: within 5 minutes we had our room, the keys, and an address for a nearby restaurant, with breakfast set for the next morning. Breakfast brought little beyond a fresh croissant, pain au chocolat, and bread. There was one portion of butter per person, industrial jam, a small St. Moret each, and industrial orange juice. We weren't hungry, but that was about it. Guests stay in a separate house, with a nice lounge around a fireplace, two sofas, and a TV, opening onto the breakfast room and open kitchen. The guest annex felt furnished without any consistency in style or decor. Cleanliness was adequate, though the shower corners needed a proper scrub to get rid of very visible black mold. The linens were clean, even if they hadn't been ironed. We also didn't come to La Renardière for conversation with Monsieur, whose first and last name we never learned. We only saw him at breakfast on the two mornings we stayed there. He's Irish, apparently very proud of it, and doesn't speak our language well. We exchanged two or three sentences each morning, and that was it. It's a shame, because there's a superb, clean, undeveloped plot with no flowers, as well as beautiful outbuildings. It could make a wonderful, friendly, relaxing place. Maybe it's missing a woman's touch. If you stay, bring your own soap or shower gel.
