Nemea Le Marche de La Plage

We spent 12 nights here in a lovely apartment. Next time I’ll book earlier so we can get a larger one. Our balcony looked over the market place, giving us front-row seats to lots of activities. Super beaches, restaurants, and bars were only a short walk away. I’d recommend it and hope to return. :-)

The location is handy if you want the beach and shops nearby and don’t need the car. There’s a great fresh food market hall next door, and underground parking is available for a fee, which is important here. The place is clean and new, with a pool and a small fitness room with four machines. The rooms are stuffy, with no fans or A/C, and the windows don’t tilt. Ground-floor rooms have little privacy. Wi-Fi is slow, there are no washing machines in the rooms, and the shared laundry costs 4€ per wash. People are out late, while garbage trucks and market setup start early. You’re in the middle of Mimizan plage, not a retirement village, so don’t come expecting quiet. The south side of Mimizan plage is quieter. There’s no grill or shared grilling area, and the kitchenette has only a cooktop, no oven. Storage and space are limited, and you have to make your own bed with unfitted sheets. Sometimes there’s also an awful smell from the paper factory in Mimizan bourg a few kilometers away, when the wind is offshore. It suits people who plan to eat out often, do laundry infrequently, stay out late, and don’t mind some noise.

Everything was perfect: the location, the weather, and the room’s cleanliness.
