A la Reine chambres d'hôtes

We were left locked out after paying for a one-night stay booked in March. We arrived in July while preparing for a wedding, and had told the host at 3 p.m. that we would be late that evening. She acknowledged the message but didn't remind us of the agreed check-in and check-out times. Busy with preparations, we lost track of the time. At 9:40 p.m. she called and urged us to come over, so we moved as quickly as we could. At 9:58 p.m., from the car, we called to say we were ready to leave and would reach the gîte by 10:03. The owner had locked us out. She was very unpleasant and said, “that this wasn't a time to arrive at someone's house.” We pointed out we were coming to professional accommodation, not someone's home, and that she could have told us about the time when we called that afternoon. She replied, “Go sleep wherever you want, but not at my place, I don't care!” and then hung up on us. I can understand someone being tired or annoyed, but this felt completely unacceptable from a professional accommodation provider. She could at least have called us at 7 p.m. to tell us the agreed time. We were shocked and stunned, and still wonder whether this is a recurring practice at the establishment.

The welcome was cold, and the room tour was over very quickly. There was no telephone or option for a landline, which seems borderline dangerous for an elderly person alone without a mobile. We weren't shown the breakfast room either. It's a shame, since the setting is lovely, but I can't recommend this place.

The breakfast was perfect, and the house has been renovated with real taste. A great spot in this region for couples or families.

Lovely surroundings, refined decor, and a perfect welcome. This guesthouse makes you want to stay and unwind, so I highly recommend it.
