I loved my four nights at Gardères. The house had thoughtful details, and the setting was beautiful. The hosts made me feel so welcome, and the whole atmosphere was magical. There was fun and great company, with just the right mix of comfort and charm. I can't wait to return.

Evenings brought amazing meals made with local produce, wine, and a chance to admire the clear, bright night sky. The wine tasting let us explore local vineyards from the comfort of the retreat, and we could arrange to buy wine and either have it sent home or delivered to the retreat the next day. We also foraged for fresh fruit and herbs on the property and found different ways to eat and drink them during our stay. Days included poolside drinks, healthy snacks, good company, a sip and paint session, and a walk in the local area. The opening weekend at Puregarderes in the south of France began with gorgeous sunrises and tea, then sunny yoga with the fabulous and talented Francine. She was genuine, supportive, and knowledgeable, encouraging everyone at every level. Practising yoga, breathing, and meditation with her was a highlight, with peaceful views and nature sounds setting a relaxed mood. I came home feeling chilled out and zen. It was just what I needed.

We spent seven days at garderes and had a great time. Most evenings we ate outside, enjoying superb home-cooked food and the wonderful views. The host, austin, or oz, was fantastic and knew a lot about the house and the surrounding area. He was relaxed, welcoming, and accommodating, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The house has been carefully restored and furnished to work well for guests today while keeping its heritage and charm. Sitting in the garden and taking in the unique views was really relaxing, just what I needed in such a fast-paced world. I'd highly recommend it.

The setting is ideal, and the beautiful mansion house comes with a magnificent pool. The site dates back to 1065, and the staff were attentive. It was quiet, the breakfast was great, and really, what more could you ask for?

Don't go there. The room wasn't cleaned, and the trash wasn't taken out for six days. Prices were exorbitant, breakfast was very average, and the welcome was terrible. No one speaks French, and it seems reserved for the English. Absolutely not recommended.
