Chalet Le Challenge - Les 2 Alpes

The staff were kind and the location had a good view, but the problems with the food and rooms made this an unpleasant stay. Some food was moldy, and we found live bugs in salads that didn't seem washed or fresh. We suspected leftovers from previous days were being reused without proper washing or storage, and cleaning seemed very sparse. We often found hair in the food, and kitchen staff didn't wear hair nets. The food was very cultural and the desserts were great, but at lunch we were served yoghurt and raw sugar packets to combine and eat. Some of us were also asked to wipe tables and clear other people's things. The rooms could fit around four to six people, but the bathrooms were tiny and the showers flooded easily. There was no holder for the shower head. Some toilets had no seats when we arrived, and the bathrooms had no cleaning products or soap, which left a frequent smell in the corridors. Rooms had only about two plugs, and some had been removed, leaving large gaps in the walls. Sinks flooded, cupboard doors fell off in some rooms, and there were no curtains. Some bathrooms also had black mold on the walls.

Amazing food, and such a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were really friendly.

Our group of ten adults from Ski Club des Mines d’Alès stayed at this chalet for the resort's opening weekend in 2025. Its spot right by the rental shop and slopes made getting around incredibly easy. The chalet was flexible about our numbers, which were only confirmed at the last minute, and helped us sort out lift passes, meals and preferential rental shop rates. That was a real bonus for a group like ours. The food was excellent throughout, from breakfast to packed lunches for the slopes and dinner. The staff were friendly and quick to respond to messages, which helped us prepare for our late, staggered arrival on Friday evening. We had a fantastic weekend and highly recommend it to large groups and ski clubs planning to stay in Les Deux Alpes.
