Village Club du Soleil Les 2 Alpes

The rooms were small but very well kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The skiing was great, with lots of slopes and lifts for all levels, and good snow even late in the season. It isn’t ski-in, ski-out, but the Village lift is just a couple of flights of stairs from the hotel. We had enough to eat each day, but I expected more from an all-inclusive club and didn’t feel pampered. There was less variety in the meals than I’d hoped, and outside meal times the only option was the paid bar. Entertainment was all for French speakers. Nothing was objectively bad, but I left disappointed.

The staff were nice, which was the one good thing about the place. The room was tiny and extremely dirty, with dust everywhere and filthy sheets. The carpet was disgusting, the hotel felt very unclean, and the plates and utensils were almost always dirty too. Food was very low quality, with awful combinations. Who is running that kitchen? It felt like a social experiment. The bar is expensive, and every entertainment game in the lobby costs money. There was no hot water to drink, and the shower only had hot water until 8 in the evening. Getting to the ski lift was barely manageable: four sets of stairs and then a hill with all your gear.

The staff were friendly and tried to help, but the hotel’s condition made the stay very unpleasant. The rooms were extremely small and dated, and the whole building felt old and lacking in comfort or modern standards. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the corridors, and the dining area wasn’t clean. Some people in our group experienced food poisoning, which is a serious concern. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all.

The room layout was a pain. There was only 30 centimeters between the bed and TV, so getting across the room was awkward, even at 178 cm and 72 kg. The bathroom wasn't much better: sitting on the toilet put my head against the towel heater, and there was no soap by the sink, only in the shower. The shower had weak pressure and wouldn't get properly hot, even turned all the way up. The door was difficult to open because of its limiter, though it wasn't especially heavy. I couldn't get the room safe working until two days later, after asking several staff members for help. Clear instructions on a sticker would have helped. The Wi-Fi was also awful: I couldn't make a WhatsApp video call, and staff said upgrading to Premium Wi-Fi wasn't possible.
