Hotel de la Gare

The rooms were a good size and, above all, very quiet. Both the hotel and our room were in good shape and well looked after. The manager was welcoming and helpful, and sells essentials at reception, which came in handy when we'd forgotten toothpaste. Breakfast was really good too. We spent a pleasant few days here. The location worked well for the train and was close to the city center. We'd happily come back.

The only real plus for me was being close to the city center. At €70 a night, it was a shame there wasn't even a microwave or kettle. I also couldn't get help with the room: I went to complain, thinking I'd perhaps been unlucky with the room, but reception was empty barely 15 minutes after I arrived, and the phone number went straight to voicemail. Cleanliness was nowhere near the standard suggested by the ratings, which I find completely unjustified. The shower and toilet were in an unacceptable state, with hairs there even though they hadn't been used. The room was dusty, the remote was sticky, and the walls had stains from questionable substances. Sleep was another problem. The insulation was nonexistent, and noise from the busy street kept me awake all night. The owner's lack of involvement and attitude were hard to understand. I wasn't given clear information about how things worked or what services were available. Breakfast was mentioned, but with no details. I strongly advise against staying here. Hygiene, soundproofing, and reception need urgent improvement. In its current state, I don't think the hotel deserves its rating.

The management was competent, professional, and full of energy. It's a small, independent place with everything you need, and they'll even help if you've left something behind in your suitcase. Conveniently, it's within walking distance of the train station. Thank you!

The welcome at reception was friendly, and the night was quiet with no noise. Getting in with large luggage could be difficult because there's no parking. One morning, no one was there for breakfast, so we had to find a bakery serving coffee.
