Excellent service, and I liked the mussels too. The chef’s special was the standout: lamb shoulder on the bone, lamb sausage, and another lamb sausage preparation with beans. It was rustic and really good. They have local options like Normandy lamb and cider that are worth trying. Most of the other dishes seemed to be pancakes, so check that what you order isn’t a savory pancake if that’s not what you want.

We were a group of six and, although the restaurant was busy, they found room for us. We’d just toured the abbey and picked the place by chance for lunch on the busy main pedestrian street. The servers were friendly and the food was good. The menu is limited, so it won’t suit people looking for lots of variety, but we all enjoyed our meals and would recommend it. We weren’t staying at the hotel.

The lamb cassoulet was excellent, with three preparations: bone-in shoulder, sliced smoked lamb sausage, I think, and lamb sausage. White beans, a tasty jus, and toasted breadcrumbs came with it. It was full of flavor, cooked perfectly, and a generous portion. We also had skate wing with prawns over capers, Lima beans, tomatoes, and croutons. That was tasty too, though I liked the lamb more. We chose this place for lunch after Mont St Michel because it was the only menu we saw with a lamb dish, which appealed to us since lamb is common in the area. Nicolas and Laure took great care of us, and service was prompt and pleasant. Big thanks to Chefs Malcom & Smith for an amazing local lunch. Highly recommend!

The food was nice and the meal could have been a good experience, but the waitress was very rude. She seemed annoyed that people sat down without asking, even though there was no sign at the entrance saying guests had to wait to be seated. A guest pointed out that this was rude and that tourists might not know seating works that way everywhere. She replied that this is France and that’s how it works here. The people she spoke to left. She also made us wait a long time while she wiped several tables and walked around, even though there were plenty of free tables and we could have sat down. When we asked, she just said, “be patient.” It’s a shame when staff give a good restaurant such a bad vibe.

We had a really good dinner here in late April. At €29 for a main and dessert, it was great value for the island, and the menu had enough different options for most people. It also has a lovely feel. This is one of the few decent evening spots on the main strip that stays open past around 7 p.m. There aren’t many tables, and they turned people away, so book early. I’d recommend it.
