B&B HOTEL Montauban

We arrived early, but nobody was around and we couldn’t get into the hotel, even though my wife and I had a booking. We waited three hours in the car park. While we were there, two men tried to rob us by spraying some sort of liquid on my wife to distract her. Luckily I intervened and stopped them. It was all caught on video, but we were advised it wasn’t worth calling the police. Basically, this is not a safe place to visit.

This was our second stay, and the hotel, room, and facilities were just as good as last time. There was a good choice at breakfast, but, as I mentioned on our previous visit, there still wasn’t any sausage. I assume the hotel simply doesn’t serve it, which is a pity since the B&B Hotel website lists sausage as an option.

The location worked well for us, and the room was clean, if small. It was adequate, and the automated check-in was handy since we could go straight to our room. Every staff member we met was friendly and professional. Recommended.

There are good restaurants and shops around the hotel, it’s well located for the No2 bus into town, and the parking is secure. The rooms have air con and were spotlessly clean. There are also vending machines in reception. But the whole experience feels remote, which may suit you if you like social distancing. We initially struggled to get in. The remote phone’s button connected us to customer service after three tries, and they explained the process. Booking through an agent confused things. You need an access code for the door and room, and the booking reference entered at the screen outside is only a reservation number, not payment. You have to pay there to get a code. By then it was 3 o’clock, while reception doesn’t open until 4.30pm. Once we understood the system, it was fine. Reception still wasn’t staffed when we came back from town that evening. Someone was there at checkout the next morning, perhaps to serve breakfast. We got a welcome email, if that counts as a personal welcome. It’s a new system for us, but now we know how it works and would know what to do if we booked another B&B. It’s hard to fairly answer whether we were personally welcomed when check-in starts at 2.30pm and nobody is at reception.
