The staff were helpful, and the nightly room rate was reasonable. My room felt a bit dark, though, and I could hear street noise. Reception closes overnight, and the 10 euro breakfast was very, very basic.

They took great care of our bikes, and the location couldn’t be beaten. We had a well decorated, practical room and a really welcoming reception. A great stay, I’d definitely recommend it.

Construction was going on outside the window, which I know is unrelated to the hotel and beyond its control. What disappointed me was how they handled my request for a quieter room. I was told quiet rooms at the back were available, but cost more, and then assured the work would stop at 7pm. It actually carried on at full steam until 8.30pm and started again at 7.10am. The work is expected to continue for another two years, so avoid hotels on the Place du Commerce. Noisy and disappointing.

The design has character, but I’d have chosen the Mercure next door if it still had rooms. The bed was hard, the covers uncomfortable, breakfast lackluster, and the wifi password was only at reception, not in the room. The elevator wasn’t working during my stay, and outside construction made it clear the rooms aren’t soundproof. Not exceptional.
