Paid just €40 b and b at the last minute, brilliant value. Clean and modern, and really close to town with great restaurants nearby. I'd recommend it for a stopover.

The restaurant is nicely laid out, but the food didn't meet expectations. My room was small, and the bathroom needs attention: the shower seal is broken, with no toilet paper or shower gel. The hotel is clean overall and has parking, right in central Montbrison, but there's no elevator. I left feeling it could have been better.

The room was cramped but the bed was big, and it was okay for a single night. There was a tiny window and a small TV. The bathroom was poor, with an all-plastic shower cubicle, a wobbly plastic basin, and a bath towel that was a bit gray and looked old. A pink soap pouch was left on the shower floor, and the sink dispenser had the same product as the shower. The service needs work even for a standard room, especially at €55. We had bad luck with a demolition site only a meter from the hotel, which woke us at 7:30 am with a lot of noise. Then the manager started hammering and drilling into the walls early in the morning too. It lasted 5 minutes, but it was incredibly early. The €8.50 breakfast buffet seemed too expensive, so we skipped it. It's a 2-star hotel, so maybe I shouldn't expect more, but it was disappointing.

The room itself was clean, but the hotel didn't meet expectations. The bathroom looked like it hadn't changed since the 1960s, the pillows were extremely uncomfortable, and the heating was old-fashioned.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful, and the hotel is right in the city center with free parking. The meals and breakfast were decent. The rooms had several problems, though. In my first one, the toilet wouldn't flush properly and the bathroom heater didn't work. I was moved, but one of the two lights in the new room was out. The bathroom soap came in old containers that needed refilling, and one had been cobbled together, which didn't feel hygienic. There was also a serious damp problem with paint peeling off. Water collected in the bathtub when showering because the drain wasn't great. The bathroom decor is very dated compared with the rooms and needs updating.
