Prieure Notre Dame

We’ve just come back from two lovely days here, and we’ll return. Catherine and Bertrand took such care of us and made us feel at home. The rooms are luxurious, the bedding is exquisite, and the service and attention to detail were extraordinary. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had. Mille merci pour tout !

Catherine and Bertrand are wonderful hosts, and the Prieure is comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. We picked it for its central location for Avignon, Nimes and Arles, and were so glad we did. Make time to enjoy the house too: swim in the pool, read on the sun deck or put on a record in the lounge. Otto the cat makes a cuddly poolside companion. Breakfast from Catherine was a treat, with bread and pastries from the baker next door, homemade granola and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The quality of everything really stood out. This was the best part of our trip, and we can’t wait to come back.

We left Montfrin after 11 nights feeling relaxed, with lovely memories, and have already decided to return to "Prieuré Notre Dame". It’s well placed for visiting Orange, Avignon, Arles, Nîmes, Les Baux en Provence, Pont du Gard and Uzès, while the Camargue is about 45 minutes away by car. Montfrin is a quiet village for unwinding. Didier and Isabelle, who own "Prieuré Notre-Dame", are attentive and make you feel more like friends than hotel guests. Breakfast in the historic atrium is a lovely way to start the day. If it’s your first time in the region, Didier has plenty of recommendations. You can also ask them to cook for you. We did, and it was fantastic. There’s just one restaurant or a pizza takeaway option for evenings in this small town, and the restaurant is nice. If you’re after parties and entertainment around the clock, you’ll be disappointed. This is a calm place to recharge. The bakery next door has fantastic croissant au beurre and petite baguette for breakfast. Bakers start work before breakfast, as you’d expect, so keep the windows closed at night if you don’t want to be disturbed. With them closed, I slept fine. I saw another comment from someone bothered by the owners’ dog, but Zouzou is a very kind fellow. People are different, I suppose. Isabelle et Didier, thank you very much for an impeccable vacation.
