The mountain views are wonderful, the rooms are simple and traditional, and there are even some lovely light fixtures. The hotel itself is perfectly fine and about a 10-minute walk from the town center. But some parts of the stay didn’t feel like what I expect from a four-star hotel. The spa was fine, though small. With six people there, we had just two chairs and one shower, with a lot of unused space around it. The basics in the room were also sparse: only multipurpose soap for hand wash, body wash, and shampoo, with no conditioner or body lotion. We enjoyed the food at the restaurant, and breakfast was a nice, down-to-earth option for a fee. At dinner, I asked the waiter which dishes were vegetarian and followed one of his suggestions, the chevriflette. He brought the regular tartiflette with meat instead, so I just ate around it. Lol Wi-Fi didn’t work for us except when we sat by the front desk and used their special network. At least you can sit next to a large animatronic polar bear there, which helps block the gusts coming through the front door. Front desk service was minimal. Twice during the day we had to look around the hotel for someone, as there was no bell. A staff member vaguely pointed us toward a room where we could store our skis, so we chose two empty lockers and worked out the locks. When we came back, we couldn’t open them. Another employee impatiently explained that they had to open and reset them because we were meant to use the lockers assigned to our room number. I felt a bit stupid at first, but if breaking into lockers is standard procedure, we should have been told what to do. It wasn’t intuitive, and I heard other people complain about the same thing. Nobody explained how to get to the slopes either, and we only discovered by chance that the hotel is almost ski-in/ski-out, which is a great feature. Most staff were nice. One even offered my friend her personal phone’s hotspot for a work call, but beyond that the service was limited. The room cleaners were nice and I had no complaints about their work. Our room didn’t have a do not disturb sign, though, so I had to find the person who was supposed to be at the front desk and request one. It took her a while to find it.

I really enjoyed my stay and felt welcome. Emma and Alica at reception were always smiling and so friendly. Leo, Jade, Gaia, and especially Daphné in the restaurant were just as friendly, cheerful, and efficient. One exception was a girl who often served breakfast. She was never friendly and seemed to want to get everything finished asap. The room staff didn’t impress me. I had coffee in my room, and the next day it was still there after they’d finished, and the bed hadn’t been made. I also left an envelope in the room for one of the restaurant staff when I checked out, and I believe it was thrown away. The food wasn’t great for me either. I only enjoyed two meals, both raclettes!

The location is good, and the place was clean. Those were the bright spots of an otherwise just okay stay. The breakfast was very basic and limited, even olive oil was missing. There was a noticeable echo in the room, as if there were empty spaces behind the walls. The advertised spa was misleading: it was just two saunas, and the jacuzzi wasn’t working. These things are why I gave it 3 stars.

We paid a lot for Christmas dinner 2025, a special family treat for three adults and two kids, and it was by far our most expensive meal in Monty. I can’t remember whether the total was €218/228 or 238. It was a mix of starters, mains, dessert, and drinks. The service was great and the staff were lovely, but the menu felt poorly thought out and the food was dressed up while the ingredients were badly handled. It was wildly overpriced. The roast chicken looked like a fine ingredient, yellow like a corn-fed bird, but careless, lazy cooking left it like the bits of KFC you don't eat. Onion soup was €14.00 a bowl with no Gratinée. The scallops were the size of a 20p, with accompaniments that overpowered them. There were no vegetables available, chips came with sautéed potatoes, and the kids' pasta was plain pasta with KETCHUP. I won't go on. Never again.

The hotel half board was excellent, the best half board booking we’ve ever made. A button lift is a short distance away and takes you to the nearby gondola.
