The dinner was the best part of our visit. My local friend suggested the steak, and the chef even came out to explain what she was preparing. It was beautifully cooked rare and left to rest, and so tender I called it my “Ruler Steak”: you could cut it with a ruler, no knife needed. I enjoyed some local cheese too, though the flaming local take on baked Alaska that my companions ordered made me wish I’d tried it. The room was comfortable and I slept well after coming with a friend to meet another Englishman and his partner, who live nearby. I’d choose this place again if I’m in the area.

We booked the New Year’s Eve set menu, and the food was delicious. Covid restrictions kept the atmosphere quieter than usual, but everyone was extremely friendly. The restaurant in La Chatre has lovely decor, and both the service and meal were excellent. I’d definitely return and can wholeheartedly recommend the hotel and restaurant.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and we had a lovely time. We especially enjoyed the entrees and hot apple pie. I recommend it.
