Baudon De Mauny

I didn’t want to leave. Baudon de Mauny is a beautiful private home turned into a hotel, with chic furnishings and decorative details. The building is magnificent, and the place was quiet, the breakfast delicious, and the location in Montpellier perfect. It felt like a real French and European experience, unlike anything I’ve found in the USA. I’d give it a million stars if I could. Merci, a bientôt.

The building and location are sensational, and the front desk service was very friendly. There’s also a small selection of excellent spirits available on trust, which is a nice touch. Our room was dark. We could perhaps have asked for another, but we were only there for two nights. My main complaint is that the room wasn’t made up, possibly because it was New Year’s Day. Even so, I’d happily come back, maybe when the weather is warmer.

We stayed in a huge room on the first floor, or second floor if you’re from the US. It used to be the music room, with high ceilings, beautiful moldings, wood floors, and a small office off to the side. The modern bathroom was a great mix of old and new. Baudon de Mauny is an elegant building, updated thoughtfully while keeping its lovely original features. It’s right in the heart of Montpellier, and the owner and staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommended if you’re visiting.

Baudon de Mauny is beautiful, everything else was perfect, and the team were lovely and helpful. My only reason for holding back a star is the confusing breakfast pricing. At the buffet, we had to decide on the spot what we were allowed to take, and a full breakfast with several items was very expensive. One middle-range price, with guests free to choose what they wanted, would be simpler and help avoid fresh fruit salad going to waste. That kind of clearer pricing and menu would be much appreciated.
