The team were wonderful, always smiling and happy to help. It’s a basic, no-frills 1-star hotel, so don’t expect bells and whistles, but it’s very good value for the money. Our room was huge, the beds were super comfy, and I loved the duvets. The air conditioning was so quiet you couldn’t tell it was on. There were old tiles and a shower curtain, so don’t judge the place by its cover.

A good deal for such a prime location, somewhere between a hotel and a hostel. The front desk guy spoke English and was happy to let me practice my shoddy French. It’s the only hostel I’ve stayed in that had daily housekeeping in the room like a hotel. My top-floor room was clean and had a fan, though there was no AC up there. A great stay for a budget traveler.

We spent three hours driving around Montpellier at night, from 7 to 10 pm, trying to find somewhere to park. Street parking required permits, and every underground public car park we tried had a height barrier our car and roof box couldn't clear. We eventually found an open-air lot, but it was about a 25-minute walk from the hotel, and our four children, aged 9, 8, 6 and 3, were asleep. We didn't think it was safe or practical to cross the city with them and all our luggage. You can't drive especially close to the hotel to drop anyone or anything off, either. We knew when booking that the hotel had no parking of its own. We didn't know the only public lot our car could enter was so far away. We spent an hour and a half in touch with the hotel explaining the problem, but eventually had to give up, cancel, and find somewhere else to stay late at night. That wasn't easy. The hotel charged us €120 for cancelling, which feels unfair. We wouldn't have booked if we'd known parking would be this difficult.
