ibis Montpellier Centre Comédie

Helpful, very friendly staff, and a spacious room with a double bed and sofa bed. There was a big desk, a coffee machine, and a good sized bathroom with an excellent shower. The hotel is just off Place Comedie, the main square, right by the Polygone large shopping centre.

We stayed three nights, which felt just right. The central location makes it easy to get around, there’s a small grocery store right downstairs, and the staff are friendly. Some rooms and common areas could use an upgrade eventually, but you don’t expect luxury at an Ibis.

The location was the one good thing, since we could walk to some restaurants. I booked three nights so my family and I could rest before continuing our drive, and I know the Accor chain from stays in several countries. This Ibis branch was the dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in: dust everywhere, thick dust in the bathroom ventilation, and black fungus spots on the ceiling. My daughter got some kind of rash after using the hotel pillows. The place looked old and poorly maintained. We drove, so I checked the website for parking information but couldn’t find any. Based on another guest’s review, I expected to find parking, but it turned out to be Indico, which cooperates with the hotel. This is the first time I’ve encountered such a low-quality Accor branch. I hope management considers making a lot of improvements.

I was in town for a conference for a week in early June. My room was basic, with just what I needed and nothing unnecessary. The hotel’s handy for Place de la Comedie, the train station, tram stop, city centre, and Polygone shopping centre. Breakfast had plenty of variety and enough food, and I had time to get to the conference venue. After long days, I could unwind at the bar with snacks and pizza. Staff were helpful and polite, and I was able to leave my luggage after checkout and explore the city for half a day without carrying a heavy bag. I’d recommend it for a simple, enjoyable city centre stay, alone or with family, for business or leisure.
