Le Maje Hostel

Getting around is easy from here: everything's walkable and the train station is nearby. But the 8 female dorm is very cramped, and the bathroom was awful, with a moldy smell and a foul odor from the drain. I could only stay in there for a few seconds. At night it's really loud because there's a club right outside the room, so earplugs are a must. The common area was cold and, to me, the music was too loud. The kitchen was just as unpleasant: it smelled bad, had loads of fruit flies, and everything was so dirty I had to wash it before using it. The beds were okay, but this might work for a short stop. Staying more nights just wasn't feasible.

The location was fabulous, and I can't recommend the place enough. The beds were really comfy, and each room had a sink, shower, and toilet, with an extra larger bathroom down the hall. There was a great chill area and plenty of cooking utensils in the kitchen. Really lovely place to stay.

I made friends easily in the kitchen, even though there weren't many social events. The facilities were clean and nice, and it's in a great location. The kitchen has the basics, but with only 2 burners and not much equipment, don't expect to cook a 5 star meal. Very nice hostel, and I'd stay again.

I couldn't stay the night and had to find somewhere else, even though I'd already paid and couldn't get a refund. A woman in the room told me she'd been harassed by other men staying there. Another man had taken over the bed, acted like he was king of the room, and everyone was scared of him. The receptionist didn't seem to care. Someone else's phone and charger were stolen while he was in the toilet. A very bad experience.
