If minus ratings were possible, I’d give one without hesitation. Check-in was already very late, then took even longer because the room still needed cleaning. There was no compensation for the wait. We put up with it, thinking at least the room would be really clean when we got in. Instead, the house seemed quite sketchy and the room was extremely dirty, with strange-looking white spots all over the pillow and blanket. We didn’t even want to touch anything. He said he couldn’t bring fresh bedding until the next day and that we’d get only a small amount of money back. A month later, we still haven’t received a penny. I was absolutely disgusted, and we left straight away. Don’t recommend it. Stay as far away as you can!

The host was nice and the location was good, but the room had problems, especially the air conditioning. We stayed in July and it was really hot at night. The AC worked around 10:30 pm, but when we got back later it had stopped, almost as if its power had been switched off. We couldn’t reach the host to ask what had happened. I spent the whole night sweating in bed and didn’t sleep for a single minute. I wouldn’t recommend staying here in summer. Even with a good host and location, being able to sleep comfortably is my main requirement for a hotel room, so I can’t leave a good review.

We booked through Booking.com expecting a hotel, and were even asked whether we wanted breakfast. Instead, we got an apartment in a charming old building that might have made for a dream stay. But this felt like a scam. There were tarpaulins on the ceiling, which looked ready to collapse, and leaks running down the walls. The curtains and duvet were stained, as was the single tea towel, which had paint on it. The main radiator didn’t work and had a notice taped to it. Photos showing all of this condition had been published. The towel warmer was out of order with an exposed electrical wire. The coffee maker in the dining area leaked, and there was just one plate and one knife. There was no sink, so we had to do dishes in the bathroom, where the basin had no pressure. Maybe the idea was to wash them in the shower. Turning on the auxiliary heater in the kitchen tripped the breaker twice. Of the three chairs, two were unstable, and one of the two TV remotes had no batteries. What could have been a charming little nest was uncomfortable and even dangerous.

The room was completely quiet, and the Wi-Fi was excellent when I needed it. I had a very pleasant stay in the lovely duplex, and got a warm welcome. The building and surrounding area are worth exploring. It’s not all practical, though: adding a sink beside the kitchenette would help a lot, and shorter people may struggle to reach the coffee machine, which sits high up. Those are small details.
