Villa Magnolia

We enjoyed a lovely stay in a residential area outside the city centre. The rooms are spacious, and parking is free and easy, though it isn’t right next to the B & B. There’s a tram nearby, but having a car would be more convenient here. Getting to your room involves a long set of outdoor stairs with luggage, or a ramp, so it may not suit anyone with limited mobility.

The staff were kind and gave us great service, and breakfast by the pool was lovely. The villa itself is peaceful, though getting around meant relying on Montpellier's excellent trams and buses since it isn't central. A transport pass is well worth it. There aren't many dinner places nearby on foot, but the Villa has a useful list of suggestions. We had asked by email about renting bikes and I don't think we got a reply. It was also unclear where to find someone with a question; my partner arrived at 8.30pm and we wanted to borrow a bottle opener. Being outside the centre made it hard to pop back during the day. And while having no outdoor evening space helps keep things quiet, when we arrived late with a local pizza, we ate by the pool in the dark.

Even with +35°C outside, we were comfortable in the modern, air-conditioned rooms. There's also a pool outdoors, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. They served us a really great dinner. A very pleasant stay.

We were looking for somewhere peaceful to return to each evening, and Villa Magnolia was just right. It sits quietly on a hillside in Montpellier's suburbs, about 11 minutes by car from Arc du Triomphe. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and we'd happily stay again. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with good Wifi, Netflix and Prime Video. The pool was lovely and quiet too. Breakfast was wonderful, with good coffee, pastries and cheeses to choose from, plus eggs made to order.
