There’s a great little garden to enjoy on warmer days, and Lydia is a host who’ll go out of her way to help. The continental breakfast sets you up for the day. Accommodation is high quality and great value for money. It’s a perfect base for Montreuil sur Mer, Le Toquet and the nearby coastal resorts. I’d definitely stay again if I return to the area.

We stayed on Saturday 6th May with my husband Malcolm’s parents, Eric and Joan. The bedroom details were so carefully considered, making them much more than just somewhere to sleep. Tim’s whole hotel restoration is tasteful and unique, and he has a real eye for detail. Tim greeted us warmly and welcomed us with drinks in the delightful garden. After dinner at a restaurant from his recommended list, we sat outside with other guests, Tim and Charline, a fabulous lady and a real asset to the Hotel. We drank champagne and laughed until the early hours. We slept very well, then tucked into locally baked crosissants, homemade preserves and fresh apple juice. The whole experience was superb from the start. We only wished we could have stayed longer, and we’ll return as soon as we can.

Tim was a friendly, welcoming and helpful host. We spent two nights in a lovely room full of character, with every little detail thought through. Fantastic experience, and we’ve already booked again for next year. I’d highly recommend this establishment!

Maison 76 is an elegant mansion, tucked inside Montreuil-sur-Mer’s city walls and right in the center of town. The house has high ceilings, an impressive lobby and a huge living room with at least five different seating areas. Everywhere you look there’s good taste, interesting objects and an impressive art collection. Our room and bathroom were perfect, with a great bed and just the right bedding. The bathroom was spacious and very comfortable. Tim was an incredible host and served us the best breakfast we’ve had in more than 30 years of travelling in France. The comfort, professional hosting and charming welcome were on another level. Thank you, Tim, we’ll meet again! We stayed at Maison 76 around Christmas. Coming from Amsterdam, we took the scenic coastal route from Calais. The two capes gave us amazing views across the Channel to the white cliffs of Dover, followed by picturesque coastal villages like Wissant and Wimereux and the impressive town of Boulogne-sur-Mer. Montreuil-sur-Mer is less than an hour from Calais and feels like a fairytale, in what has to be the most charming medieval town in the north of France. Amazing restaurants, terraces and bars are within walking distance. The people in this coastal region are welcoming, take pride in speaking English and really enjoy meeting foreigners.
