The room looked recently renovated and was very nice. From there, I could see the enormous railway bridge above the city. Breakfast was good, and reception staff were cheerful and helpful. The lobby’s beautiful wooden staircase goes back to the building’s earlier days. This really is a Grand Hotel, with a history stretching back to the late 18th century, when it was the private residence of Count Claude Haudeneau de Breugnon. It became a hotel in 1816 and hosted notable guests, including the Queen of Portugal in 1831 and Charles de Gaulle in 1945.

Our cycling group comes back every year, and the staff have always been incredibly helpful, from arranging the group booking through our stay. The rooms have everything we need, especially after the refurbishment, and breakfast is excellent. It’s a wonderful hotel with real character.

The dining room is beautiful, and the woman in charge was friendly and helpful. We’d arranged to meet friends for breakfast in Morlaix, then realized there was nowhere to sit and eat. The hotel came to our rescue with an excellent €10 buffet: great coffee, bread, eggs, ham, cheese, fruit, homemade cakes, and pastries. Our French friends were delighted too. A treat!

I’m looking forward to coming back. The receptionist and her lovely overnight colleague were so kind, friendly, and patient, and both went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. They prepared breakfast just for me at 4am before my early flight, woke me up, and arranged a taxi.

The lift wasn’t working, the shower was hard to control, and the room was extremely hot. Breakfast was mediocre too. Maybe it was just one of those days when everything goes wrong, but the staff made no effort at all to improve things. I don’t consider this a 3-star hotel, and I definitely won’t return.
