The hotel’s ski room made ski in and ski out easy, with good storage lockers and dryers. Staff were friendly and helpful, and I’d absolutely recommend Mil8. We were in Avoriaz for a week of skiing and were very happy with our B&B accommodation. Our spacious room had an amazing mountain view, a comfortable bed and lovely linens. The bathroom had a bath and walk-in shower, with the W/C separate. I got cold sometimes and would have liked a blanket, but when we asked, staff brought extra duvets right away. During two days of blizzards, we were perfectly content indoors, using the masseuse, pool and sauna. I appreciated having a sports room option, though a quality yoga mat and a regular weights bench might be more useful than the Tech bench. There was also a bike and cross trainer. We spent plenty of time reading and having drinks from the bar in the lovely foyer, with its fire and comfortable furnishings. Breakfast was very good, and as a vegan I was well looked after by the staff. The restaurant was a lovely space, though it could feel cool near the outside door and window seats, but not unpleasantly so. My husband had a good selection on the menu. My choices were limited, and some dishes that sounded suitable turned out to contain cheese or cream. Being vegan in Avoriaz is challenging.

We’ve stayed here for four years and will keep coming back. It feels like a home from home, and it offers what you need for a great ski in ski out holiday. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the beds are so comfortable. The reception team are amazing and go above and beyond, from sorting lift passes to booking restaurants. Their pick-up from the welcome centre is efficient and reliable. Breakfast has plenty of choice, as do lunch and dinner, so book ahead because they’re busy. There’s also a great bar, with friendly staff and a superb cocktail menu. Many thanks, Mil8!

We travelled as a family and this is our new go-to ski hotel. The location is central, with easy access to the slopes whether skiing or not. The rooms are slightly small but very comfortable, and the shower is excellent. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful.

The lobby is beautiful and the location is great, but the pool advertised on the website was freezing cold. It was empty most of the time, and impossible to use. Breakfast is where the hotel really falls short: the selection is very limited and the same every day. The restaurant is okay, nothing special. The room size was fine for the area. Overall, it’s a good hotel, but for the price it should be much better. I stayed for a week of skiing in February.

I’m giving this three stars because the price is so high for what you get. The location is fantastic, though. Ski access is easy, town is walkable, the views are breathtaking, and the shuttle to and from the welcome center was reliable and convenient. Staff were pleasant and available whenever we needed them. The room was very uncomfortable for four adults. We knew there was only one bathroom and toilet, but the toilet had no sink, so it wasn’t usable while someone was showering. Storage was tiny, and one bedroom had none at all. We had to leave our belongings in the hallway or on the floor, a real nuisance on a ski trip. That room barely fit two beds and had no bedside surface, so I had to leave my phone on the bed while it charged. The common living area was dark, oddly shaped and uncomfortable. The pool was a big letdown. It only reached 31°C, too cold for an outdoor pool with temperatures around -10°C outside. I saw many guests get in briefly and leave because of the cold. I tried it twice and didn’t go back. The dry sauna was basic, with no way to add water or turn up the heat. It was acceptable, but nothing special. Breakfast was mediocre in quality and limited in variety. I’ve had better at three-star hotels. The pancakes were always cold and dense, and we had to switch on the toaster and egg water heater ourselves, then wait several minutes for them to heat up. Even a cappuccino or omelet cost extra. With the hotel already so expensive, an extra €7 for a simple omelet felt unreasonable. For my early checkout, the “breakfast to go” was an orange, a yogurt and a piece of cake wrapped in a napkin, yet I was still charged €25. The attentive staff and fantastic location were good, but the facilities fell far short of what I’d expect for the price. We were very disappointed. It wasn’t worth even half of what we were charged.
