Florence at reception was kind and helpful when we arrived, and at first everything seemed perfect. The trouble came on checkout day. We went down for breakfast at 9:30 and found no food or even water, though we’d been told at check-in that weekend breakfast ran until 10:00. The same hours were printed on the paper attached to our invoice. The male receptionist was dismissive and arrogant. He kept saying breakfast was over and walking away. He spoke to us only in French, which felt odd at a hotel reception where staff should speak the local and an international language. It seemed like he didn’t want to communicate. He tried to show that we were wrong about the breakfast hours, but couldn’t find any official information. Then he went into the kitchen and took some decent food out of the fridge with his bare hands, without tongs or gloves, and without washing them. It was disgusting. When we went back to our room, access had been blocked for no reason. Later, he gave us another code. It was 10:00 a.m., while checkout was at 11:00, which was strange, but whatever. We tried to stay polite during checkout in case he was having a bad day. We showed him the invoice with the breakfast information, but he ignored us again and turned away. We were really shocked. I know it’s not a five-star hotel, but staff could at least be polite. It costs nothing.

The facilities are dated, but it’s a handy place to spend the night on the road, close to the highway. The staff were very friendly and attentive, it’s pet-friendly, and the mattress was good with impressive water pressure.

Our room was clean and airy, a couple of floors up, with a nice sunny terrace. The receptionist was lovely and very helpful with our questions. It’s an Ibis Budget, so you get the usual trade-offs: basic facilities, breakfast, no bar, and so on. It’s cheap for the area and easy enough. Just know that there’s not much nearby if you don’t have a car. You’ll need an Uber, about €20 to Cannes or €45 to Nice Airport, or you can walk 15-20 minutes and take a bus into Cannes. The location won’t suit you if you don’t fancy at least a stroll.

A pleasant stay, and the breakfast was good. The central location and clean rooms were great too. Only real drawbacks were that the rooms had no fridge or hair dryer. Thanks!
