Les Rosées

We came just for a romantic dinner and had a lovely evening. The chef was welcoming, and the place made us feel at home. The dishes looked nicely presented but stayed simple and true to themselves. Everything tasted delicate and well chosen. Congratulations.

The property is pretty, and some staff were warm and helpful, with good restaurant suggestions. The owner is polite and seems committed to running a green, eco-friendly hotel, though to me it felt more like cost cutting than a real sustainability effort. I’ve stayed at other green hotels, and this one fell short on comfort and service. There were several problems: breakfast costs extra, and that can add up quickly. The pool water was green and looked unclean, so I couldn’t use it. The shower leaked, and the bathroom setup was already disappointing. There wasn’t conditioner, body lotion, or other basic toiletries. Shampoo came in a glass bottle, which seemed unsafe in a slippery shower. I waited more than 24 hours for a safe. The air conditioning only covered the rooms, while open doors and windows in common areas let biting bugs build up. The pillows and towels were poor quality and made the stay uncomfortable. I’d consider other options before booking.

We came for dinner, and the setting was a dream, romantic, quiet, and cared for down to the details. Everyone gets the same menu, except there are two choices for the main course. The waiter was very kind and enjoyed chatting with me about my holiday and where I’m from.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, with so much care put into the furnishings and all the little details. We loved relaxing in the sun by the pool and having the delicious breakfast. Dinner with the chef was phenomenal, especially if you’re not a picky eater, since the chef goes to the market and chooses what looks good. We’d read about Les Rosées in the Lonely Planet guidebook and arrived with high expectations, which the hotel completely exceeded. We were welcomed warmly and had a lovely experience from start to finish. The location was perfect for visiting Grasse and the gardens of the perfume museum before moving on to another region of France. We only wish we’d had more time, and would love to come back.
