Camping Loisirs Des Groux

The pitches were very good, and shops and villages weren’t too far away. We stayed here in our campervan and were greeted so warmly by the woman at reception.

We’d come back just for a restful break. It’s incredibly peaceful, though a bit remote if you don’t have a car. We drove, so getting around was easy, but most places are more than 30 minutes away. The site sits in a bend of the Seine, and crossing the river means going quite a distance from here. The pitches are spacious, flat grass, though the June heatwave had left them a little parched. There’s water at each pitch, and you can empty black and grey water into manholes that are dotted around the site. The host speaks perfect English and gets up early to make bread and croissants to order. They’re wonderful, and coffee and ice creams are available too. We really enjoyed listening to the wide range of birds. Our life list grew quite a bit, including several warblers such as the Cetti Warbler. The only minor downside was the state of the toilets and showers. If they were updated and kept up better, I’d give the stay five stars.

There are lovely walks nearby and a village close by. This was a friendly, quiet campsite that felt thoughtfully set up. Tent travellers have a little kitchen with a fridge, cooker and power for charging things, and you can order bread and food. Recommended.

Martine was a lovely host, and the breakfast was a nice offering. For bikers, there’s a tent with a fridge, cooking set and electricity, and it’s good value. The toilet facilities are very outdated, but acceptable.
