The grounds are lovely, quiet, and pleasantly out of the way. Cleanliness was average, and so was the welcome. The amount charged wasn’t the base price, and breakfast felt very expensive for what we got. Don’t come expecting homemade jam or cakes fresh from the oven.

The owners’ dog came into the room and peed on the carpet while we were trying to air it out. The owners’ response to our Booking.com review also made us feel they weren’t decent people. Breakfast cost a lot for one croissant, one baguette, and three pats of butter. The room itself was filthy and musty, the sheets seemed questionable, and the ground-floor window faced straight onto the bed, so there was no privacy unless we kept the room completely dark. Avoid at all costs!

For a quiet breakfast on a terrace, this is a lovely spot. The countryside setting is charming, with two donkeys wandering freely and sometimes coming over to greet you. The cottage is ideally placed, tucked away in the country but just 3 km from Moustiers, and we spent five days here while visiting the Verdon Gorges. Mr. and Mrs. are very friendly. Since we were there during the COVID-19 pandemic, getting the towels changed was a bit complicated, but those were exceptional times and we adapted. The bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette are roomy and more than adequate, especially since you’ll probably spend most of your time hiking. The decor is a little dated, and the bedding was acceptable but nothing special. One last tip: visit the village of Tourtour while you’re in the area. It’s superb, and you can ask the owner about it.

We stayed in a suite in this little place, which felt a bit like a house from a fairy tale. It’s a Provence-style lodging made by renovating an old family home, set in a forested mountain valley. Think of it as a pension rather than a hotel, with a shared kitchen. There’s a Bluetooth speaker and a hairdryer. The front yard looks out onto a relaxing forest view. The bathroom was cleaner and better decorated than I expected, with a nice bathtub and a clean sink, though showering was awkward because there’s no shower booth.
