It’s good value for the money. We got our deposit back a day or two after leaving, so there’s no need to worry about that. The beds were very comfortable, although both the room and breakfast were average. The location worked perfectly for us, just a few minutes from the main square and about five minutes from the train station. Most receptionists could look up and say hello when people came in or went out. They don’t need to smile, but it would be a nice thing to do in a job where you meet people every day. One receptionist did always look up and greet us. The room was cleaned only once in seven days, which seems odd and really silly. Still, guests are told about that before booking, so at least it’s fair.

I was halfway through a shower when, after just two minutes, the water turned completely cold. I couldn’t rinse the soap off. Staff refused to let me use another shower or move rooms so I could finish rinsing, and initially refused to refund the night so I could leave. After I complained to the director, the hotel did refund that night. A “technician” came up and claimed the water heater had been switched off, but we hadn’t touched anything. Blaming a guest for a maintenance failure is unacceptable. Reception was no help and just told me to email the manager, Ms. Vanessa Wagdi Zemb, instead of dealing with the emergency. The facilities are old and run-down. This place needs a full renovation or an urgent change of ownership. Avoid it at all costs.

We always come back because the receptionist is fantastic and the rooms are perfect. There’s a lovely Italian restaurant just around the corner, and a wine bar too!

The rooms are a good size and have a few things for preparing simple meals. Breakfast could offer a little more variety.
