Villa Cosy Strasbourg

We left as soon as we saw the setup, so we did not stay. We had booked a private two-bedroom place for €399 because we were two friends, not a couple, and wanted separate sleeping spaces. Before arrival, we were told we’d been moved to a room with a loft. We specifically checked whether it was private, and were assured it was. Instead, the top floor was completely open to the downstairs, with no door or privacy. There were a couple of beds up there, plus one separate room with a bed and a door. The bathroom was in the hallway and shared, with no way to stop others using it. With the beds exposed to the floor below and no way to keep strangers away from us or our belongings while we slept, we didn’t feel safe. On arrival, it also felt clearly like a woman’s home, and a dog was barking excessively. The owner asked what time we wanted breakfast; when we said 8am, she said that was too early. That felt like another odd sign. We consider this a scam and an extremely dangerous situation, especially for fellow women travelers. It might be fine if you knowingly book a hostel with no privacy, but that wasn’t what we booked. The owner refused a refund, though our bank is refunding us. We have pictures, videos and a booking code showing we went there. As other reviewers have said, I expect she’ll claim we never stayed. That’s true, because we left when we saw the unsafe arrangement.
